At Paeonia Termeulen, the production of high-quality propagation material is central to our operations. Our peonies are carefully cultivated and selected to provide strong and healthy rhizomes. These rhizomes, also known as cuttings, form the starting material for successful cultivation. Thanks to years of experience, a carefully controlled production process, and soil sampling for harmful organisms, we produce cuttings with optimal vigor and uniformity. Our propagation material is specifically developed for professional growers who work according to high quality standards and rely on dependable production.
Our production begins with a careful selection of strong and healthy mother plants. Only plants with good vigor, uniform characteristics, and reliable flowering are used for the production of new propagation material.
After two or three growing seasons, the plants are lifted and carefully processed. The plants are divided into cuttings, with each cutting containing sufficient eyes and root mass to develop a strong new plant.
After division, all cuttings are inspected for quality, health, and uniformity. Only cuttings that meet our quality standards are selected for delivery to professional growers.
The production of peony cuttings requires patience, knowledge, and attention to detail. Our plants grow in the field for several years before they are lifted. During this period, the rhizomes develop the strength and vitality necessary for strong new plants.
Before we deliver the cuttings, they undergo two treatments. The first treatment is a hot water treatment against nematodes. Subsequently, the cuttings are disinfected with a fungicide treatment to optimally guarantee the health of the plant material.
After division, all cuttings are carefully inspected for quality, health, and uniformity. Only cuttings that meet our quality standards are selected for delivery to professional growers.
